Hi, we are trying to build on the number of good quality links.

One idea we had is to provide testimonials for a number of suppliers websites. Which would include a link from our company name back to our site.

Is there a certain level of domain authority we should only do this for? For example if a supplier only has a domain authority of 11 should we not get a back link?

      Many Thanks

Hi, sorry but Google have not updated PageRank for quite some time, and it is widely believed they no longer pay attention to it and it will likely be removed soon.

Good Quality links would be domains with a Moz Authority of 30+ (obviously higher is more beneficial), and those sites that are linked in some way to your domain or company are even more beneficial in providing related link juice.

A testimonial is always great, regardless of domain authority - not just because of its link juice, but possible referals and increased user experience. So I would suggest aiming for that, and try and land a big client with a nice juicy website!

It's all about having a varied link profile. Some low, some medium and some high. It's a healthy diet.

              Daniel,

I'm guessing that you didn't choose to work with your suppliers based on their pagerank and I submit to you that you shouldn't chose your supplier's back links based on pagerank, either.  It is more than acceptable to develop the types of relationships you're writing about with your suppliers of all sizes and degrees of importance--just because they're smaller, doesn't mean growing that digital relationship isn't going to help your company or its website.

Thanks for your replies they really help.

I agree we can work with our suppliers, I have a good enough understanding now of SEO to be able to offer simple help.

If a supplier has a domain authority of 16 does it have a negative impact?

We have 28 linking domains and a DA of 16 is would be fourth from the bottom.

                Many Thanks

It won't have a negative impact, it will just have less of an impact than a domain authority 30 site. Also, you don't want to have to monitor for when that da 16 site becomes a da 50 site, so I recommend getting links (aka online relationships) from as many of those suppliers as possible on a consistent basis.

I agree with Searchbuzz and Chris.Menke above, that testimonial and link is going to be valuable to you and your business, especially when you continue to gain these one on top of another over time.

                    Thanks.

There is one backlink which has not appeared to have worked. We registered our site with DMOZ a long time ago but it does not show up under our link analysis.

Have we registered it incorrectly? We appear on DMOZ (1st in the list below)

                    http://www.dmoz.org/search?q=raworths&cat=all&all=no

                    Many Thanks

No link checker will pick up everything. Life would be much easier if that was the case.

Be sure to return to DMOZ and verifiy that your site was added to that directory.  There is no guarantee that you'll be listed.

Thanks, we do appear in a category but it is a category on our own, maybe not the best one.

Regional: Europe: United Kingdom: England: North Yorkshire: Harrogate: Business and Economy: Legal Services

Our competitors appear in another category with lots more firms, DMOZ shows up in their link analysis.

I will request to be moved to another category which is more appropriate.

Wouldn't less links mean less saturation?

OK.  The value of dmoz is not what  it once was.  Truthfully, If you've got a listing, it might be better to leave it as is vs. trying to get it changed.  Google does have that page indexed so you might not get any more value out of moving it.

Maybe, it's more likely that they've simply moved to an updated, more sophisticated version. Generally speaking, PageRank above 4 is good. Also, try installing the MozBar and judging by Domain Authority or MozRank. For the metrics out of 10, look for 4 or above. Out of 100, 30 or above.
