The trend nowadays is definitely a downward one when it comes to domain matching. I would advise you to continue to optimize for casino, because one of these days Google will stop giving so much ranking to exact match domain names. What you do have in your court is the fact that you have a real website. If the site that outranks you does in fact only have a few pages and a few incoming links, then you have a much better opportunity to rank for other similar keywords.

In a nutshell, keep at it with casino, but I honestly don't think it's a great idea to buy a domain solely for the ability to rank for that one keyword. Looking at the trends, I doubt that is going to work out well in the long run.

I have a competitor which has a domainname which is like 'casino.com', and of course in google there isbeing searched for 'casino.com' thousands times a month.

This is going to make it difficult but it is still possible to beat them.   If I wanted to beat them I would develop content that puts their site to shame and that would result in twice as many visitors searching for "egol.com" instead of "casino.com"

This casino.com is fictive as competitor, but i am wondering. If it possible when i should register a domain like 'onecasino.com' for example, do i have any possibilty to outrank this casino.com domainname for the keyword 'casino.com'?

If you already have an established site with a domain that could become very popular I would stick with it.

Even with other keywords you see the most shitty websites on top with only one page, aprox 4 backlinks and almost no content. So i'm wondering, do i have any possibility to get above a domain like casino.com? Or shouldn't i better put time in it because it's lost time?

Only you can answer that.  You will have to guess at how much it will cost to beat them and then guess at how much you can make from that traffic.  If beating them costs twice as much as they are spending but you can convert buyers at twice their rate then you can compete.

There are plenty of strategies for stealing customers from the site above you.  If they are a manufacturer and you can sell at a kickass price then shout that price in your title tag.  Or if you have another very strong value proposition or superior service get that into your title tag to pull clicks away from them while you are positioned at #2.  With a very aggressive title tag strategy it might be possible to sell more than the #1 site from the #2 position.  You say that they have a shitty website so maybe this will work well for you.

I own a few KW.com websites and know that they are not easy to beat... but it is possible.

I'm pretty sure I recently saw that exact match domains were losing ground in SERPS. Cutts has openly said the value assigned to them is being diminished in the algorithm.

I believe that this is true.  We run a few KW.com domains and they seemed to take a slight loss a few days after Matt's video.  😞

But... KW.com domains are still are great for conversions and still hard to beat.  😉

                Agreed.  When I see a KW.com I trust it much more than buy-green-widgets-at-cheap-prices.com.  🙂
