I think the links will still show up- but Google won't be actually counting them/ considering them where your site is concerned. I'd keep the disavow in place. Did you suffer a penalty at all? If so did you submit a reconsideration request explaining what had happened?

FWIW and from own personal anecdotal evidence when a sitewide link gets picked up, it just takes a bit of time for Google to see the disavow and also to see that it's been removed.

Have you had any kind of penalty notice in your GWT panel for this site? If you haven't then that's a bonus,

Do you need to remove the Disavow for any reason? Then why risk moving it?

Have you also checked with other backlink checkers to see what they are seeing? Lots of tools refresh their data at different rates - so that may help you.

          Good luck.

          Will

            Thanks both.

-Not seen any penalty notice show up in GWT.
-Not submitted a reconsideration request either

I'll leave the disavow file where it is then. Will this affect future links from the blog?

It depends, I think, Did you disavow the whole domian or just the offending links?

OK, unsure at the moment. A colleague actually did the "disavow" file, my WMT is restricted to some extent. I'll get admin access and find out.

Although we've not seen any messages in WMT, we have seen organic traffic drop significantly (70%-80%) and as our site is fairly new I would imagine Google doesn't give you the benefit of the doubt when 70k links suddenly point at your site.

I suppose this will take a while to get back to this level again?
