Does Google use data from Gmail to penalize domains and vice versa?
-
Has anyone noticed issues with Gmail deliverability and spam inboxing happening around the same time as other large Google updates? For example, if Google blasted your site in Panda or Penguin, have anyone seen them use the same judgement across into Gmail deliverability to blacklist your domain?

As far as I know Google doesn't use their Gmail spam filtering to affect web search results - that'd be way too easy to game and mess up your competitor's results.
Likewise there is no evidence of penalized domains from affecting Gmail either.
They're too separate mediums and they're two very different types of spam. So no overlap to speak of!

Thanks Andie. That's what I thought. I haven't been able to find anyone drawing conclusions that these two issues could be related. The types of spam are definitely quite different.
