      Hi There,

Presently I have many blogs across a range of domains, each one targeting the client/type of user interested in that product (or service in this case).  I originally set up this strategy to use the content of each blog to create a "link juice farm" (our products are educational courses so have a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT target market depending on the course area), which in turn links to the related page/course on our main site.

My question is, is this a viable strategy, or should I be focusing on building content only on my main site blog with subcategories for each product?

Link juice farming on product/client specific blogs, or focus on content for each course niche on main site, that is the question?!

Thanks in advance for you insights here people.  I really appreciate you taking the time.

I would personally focus on your main site's blog. This way, if you build awesome content that people want to feature and/or share then you are building backlinks organically and link juice is passing to your blog.

That said, it's okay to have a blog on the side as well. Especially if you want to target certain niches with it. Problem is your CTR is going to be diminished and you won't get as much traffic to your primary domain which I'm assuming is where you want to build presence/traffic/SERPs.

Having another blog though separate from your main site also opens up the possibility for guest blog sharing which can be quite beneficial. Problem is it may not be worth developing as you will need an established blog to be able to trade with the types of bloggers you'd like to trade with.

I agree with Jesse. If you are speaking to a single audience and/or vertical, then having one blog is more powerful and will give you the best end result. By having one blog, you'll develop and gain more link juice and become more recognized as an authority or industry thought leader.

The blog network (link juice farming) is against Google's Editorial Guidelines. You never know if you'll get caught, but many people have.

Link juice farming on product/client specific blogs, or focus on content for each course niche on main site, that is the question?!

Focus on content for each course niche on the main site.

Blogs tend to have higher bounce rates, but if that is a concern you can filter out (EXCLUDE) your blog to see what you real conversion rate is in Google Analytics. As far as conversions, it will depend on the purpose of the blog: sales, leads, newsletter signups.

I would only have one blog because you can build a lot more authority with one blog than splitting up the blog five ways.
