What is the SEO impact of hosting a blog and PPC landing pages on a sub-domain vs. sub-folder vs. external domain?

Hi there
When it comes to blogs or content that it linkworthy, I would always put that under the subdirectory (or subfolder). The reason being, search engines treat subdomains / domains as two separate entities and will rank them accordingly as such. Putting content like this on a subdomain does a disservice to that content and your SEO efforts.
When it comes to SEO and PPC, your PPC are not going to impact your SEO results. I would focus on driving paid traffic to the most relevant landing page or service / product page that makes sense for their query (I see businesses drive paid traffic to subfolder pages all of the time!), but not look to it to increase organic rankings. Two separate things.
It's really up to you there. Hope this helps! Good luck!

I completely agree with Patrick
you get all the domain authority and back links from utilizing a subfolder in place of a subdomain. Google considers a subdomain separate website. Therefore subfolder should almost always be used for very unique cases.
Hope that is enough to convince you to use the subfolder.
All the best,
Tom
