Hello Mozzers! This is a question that has been gnawing at the back of my mind as I learn more and more about link building. Historically, we have offered scaling package sizes with larger numbers of backlinks hand-built each month. We do this so our packages are very tangible for our clients. Our packages range from 15-100 backlinks each month. As I learn more about how to build links PROPERLY I am finding it next to impossible to keep up. I feel like we are definitely going the wrong direction in that regard. What are some of your thoughts on this?

Thank you in advance for your valuable advice and support, Moz community!

In general, I would avoid promising any specific number of links at all. With the clients expecting this number each month, it can lead to teams building lower quality links just to meet their quota and fulfill the promise to the client. It would probably be wise to tweak the language you use and possibly re-think how you're tiering out that service. I'd recommend to group out different types of link building and tier it based on the complexity of the strategy.

I'd also recommend checking out Rand's final presentation from the 2016 MozCon; he gives some good directional advice on how to approach Link Building and some solid strategies and tactics to consider:

        I hope this helps!

Very much so. Thank you for your insight! We will have to restructure our packages.
