      Hello,

In Googles Web master tools under "content keywords" 2 of my major keywords are missing.

My site used to rank well for the keyphrase "short hairstyles" but gets very little traffic from google at all now, about 1% of what it did before april 2012.

Someone did a negative seo number on us by pointing 10k+ spammy links to us from message boards, this and the timing of the traffic loss leads me to suspectthe penguin update. I am removing them as best I can but no increase in traffic has resulted so I'm looking for any and all issues and the missing keywords seems to be an oddity.

The missing keywords include "short" which is pretty fundemental. The word is in the domain and plenty of times in the content.

      Any ideas?

has your traffic been affected much because of this? or is it more the face that you can not see these terms in WMT that is the issue?

If you have not had any luck with contacting the webmasters of the 10,000 plus spammy blogs and not had any luck with getting Google to reconsider your inclusion in the rankings it might make better business sense to start a new site.

As continuing to add content to a site that is only getting 1% of its previous total is like sinking money into a black hole.

The competition for "short hairstyles" is not excessive and if you use the content from your existing site (assuming the quality is high) the job can be completed quite quickly, when you build the new site use the robots txt file to block access to the new site until it is ready to avoid duplication issues.

Then once it is ready use your industry contacts to press release your new URL, get links from appropriate suppliers and friends in related industries and ask those who were linking to the old site to now rank to the new one.

remember to remove the robots txt block when you remove the old site.

Concentrate on some marketing and great content and the new site should rank well in a few months.

Keep an eye on inbound links using a verity of tools and if you see the spam links coming in ask for them to be removed and use the disavow tool to back up your claim.

I hope this helps and I hope you get your traffic back soon

            Sean

              OK thanks for that,

Some of these things are already in motion.

I'm still hoping someone can throw some light on the missing keyword thing as I believe it may be significant.
