In my opinion you're pretty much out of luck in this case, Cary. From the other site owners' perspective, you've defaced their site and caused them major headaches by posting crap and spam to their pages, harming their sites in the process.

Now, you're going to ask them (or try to manipulate them) to spend more time & energy cleaning up the mess you made because it's causing problems for you? Not gonna happen.

Most such site owners that I've seen talk about this (Darren Rowse of ProBlogger for example) seem to consider it simply karma and they're actually glad your earlier actions are coming back to haunt you. And frankly as someone who's had to deal with massive spam issues for myself and clients, I'd have to agree.

Tough situation, and not what you want to hear, I'm sure, but I'd be misleading you to suggest otherwise.

If the volume of crap links from blog spam is high enough to be seriously harming your site, you might want to take your chances with the potentially double-edged sword that is the link disavow tool (available both from Google and Bing.)

Otherwise, gonna need to get to work building some more quality content, and promote it effectively to earn some quality inbound links to offset the harmful ones you now can't do much about.

        Paul

P.S. By "you" I mean whoever built the spam links in the first place as it's not clear that part was your own doing.

If it were a simple toxic website that linked to your website you could have used the google disavow tool
          http://googlewebmastercentral.blogspot.co.uk/2012/10/a-new-tool-to-disavow-links.html

But I think because it is actual spammy comments that it may be more difficult, google say to use this tool as sparingly as possible etc, first to contact the webmaster and as a last resort use this tool

I'd agree with Paul on trying to just create some great content, and offset the bad with good inbound links.

The links comment links on http://abesauer.com/ are all nofollow.

Even though it's pure spam the pages are not passing PR because the links are nofollowed and therefore not the cause of any penalty.

Don't worry about these links they are safe, do worry about the dofollow spammy links pointing to your site.

Irving, IĀ strongly disagree that just because a mass of spammy links are nofollowed, they are nothing to worry about.

It's become pretty clear through 2012's algorithm updates that the search engines are assessing sites based on overall link profile, not just their followed links.

              • We're looking at providing SEO for a website that has the majority of its incoming links from websites created solely to provide links. Few have bad spam rankings. How worried should I be about those links?

              • We had a blog that has been inactive since 2011\. Now since the website is redesigned and we are working on link building, is it advisable to use the old blog content in the new blog?
