301 Redirect from Old website to new website

The first things I would check are the domain authority of the old website (assuming that it is still live and there is content behind the domain?) and also the domain health to make sure that it isn't blacklisted. Presumable the old website has a good DA and so you want to carry that link juice? From our experience with 301s, this should serve to carry that link juice on the condition that you continue to host +/ serve the old website.
A free tool for this is mxtoolbox.com which is pretty good but I am sure there are others available!

In addition to Harry,
I would say, Just simply use 301 redirect to your new domain; this will bring you not only the traffic of your existing site as well as old site backlinks along with juice of those back links to your site.
In regards to your landing page, if you want to deliver all goodness of old domain to your landing page, that can work as well this can have significant impact on your landing page in relation to SEO and performence of your landing page.Another, thing to consider, prepare a list of all URLs from old site and add redirect url which you think is relvant for old page, this way it will be easy for you to redirect all your old URLs to new site without suffering any harm.
Just make sure you follow the guidelines and you do it properly.

Hi Paul,
DA:10 is reasonably low, however, if the links to the old site are from domains that are relevant to your new website then it can certainly help.
If the old website is no longer live then I'm not sure how the 301s will work as the redirect code would need to be present in the code for that website. If the website isn't being hosted, and so the code isn't 'on the internet' then I'm not sure that the redirect code will be accessible to the crawl bots that identify the links in the first place.
Linking domian > links to > old URL which contains the redirect code > links to > new website.
If the website isn't live then I think this middle step is missing.

Hi Paul,
it depend where you want to transfer your benefit from old site, However, if i would be in your position, i would consider importance of French Polishing service and page to company and site accordingly. Based on that i would decide, If it’s one of you main service then do redirect to landing page. Otherwise, to the main site. I am sure it will help.

Hi Paul,
When looking to see if a redirect is the right thing to do, I Â would do a little more digging into the old domain first. Check to make sure there there was no penalty or bad links. Did you purchase this with a view to trying to use the old URL to boost your French Polishing page, or were you going to create a new site?
I wouldn't be rushing to redirect this without knowing a lot more about the history first of all, otherwise you might be causing yourself problems.
