If we will not show our existing content(Available for desktop views) on product listing page in Mobile responsive site, will it make any difference/impact from seo point of view? Mostly people don't read content in product listing pages and we place content mostly for seo point of view. So intentionaly we don't want to show our content in mobile view bcz it may distract users. As per my knowledge google using same ranking algorithm for both desktop and mobile. So I want to know  will it make any impact from ranking and other seo factors?

It's easy to say, if you are the best result for mobiles you will be shown. But thats not the question. The Problem is, if the content is important for desktop-searchers it will be important for mobile-searches to. It could effect a less mobile ranking (when I am right) - if the content is not important, why it exists?

It is not a problem to hide some content or don't show all the content you show on desktop page. How it is in your special case? Watch the mobile and Desktop Rankings. If the missing content is important for ranking, you should see that.

          Hi Kathiravan,

You should be okay. Googlebot is the same crawler for mobile and desktop, so it's always going to see the content you have on the desktop.

As they said in a Q&A section and SEM post reported:

Hidden content can be discounted in ranking, but if the content is visible on the desktop version of your site, we can crawl it and use the information for ranking your mobile site as well since we can share indexing signals between the desktop and mobile versions.

Hope this sets your mind at ease!

          Kristina

Thanks Kristina for your useful answer. I heard about that in near future Google is planing to rank separately for mobile and desktop because Google is also giving more Priority to mobile platforms and don't want to give similar rank based on desktop performance. So I think hiding content on mobile platform may impact in long term. What is your view about this?

That's completely possible. I'm not sure about how your company works, but if they're slow to change, it's probably worth arguing that that content should be visible, just in case. If they can change quickly, I'd just let everyone know that you're keeping an eye out for changes in the algorithm, and will let them know when that content needs to be displayed.
