      Currently this is what applies throughout the site.
      property="og:locale" content="en_GB" />

      How would one set this for properties in Italy or Spain for example? (The language is all in English)

      Regards Tai

        I'm assuming you include these tags for Facebook's benefit, because if you want to send localization signals to Google, it's better to use hreflang.

        Hreflang allows a comprehensive range of countries and languages: you can combine any two values from the ISO-639-1 list of language codes and the ISO-3166-1 Alpha 2 list of countries.

        The locales supported by Facebook are a lot more limited. You can't have en-IT for English speakers in Italy, for example, because Facebook doesn't support that value. Facebook only allows the following English-language locales:

        • UK English: en-GB
        • US English: en-US
        • English (India): en-IN
        • English (Pirate): en-PI
        • English (Upside Down): en_UD

        You can see Facebook's full list of supported locales on this page.

        So the answer is that it won't matter where your users are. What will matter to Facebook is the style of English you use. If you write in British English, you should use en-GB, and if you use US spellings then use en-US.
