Overlap of SEO tools

Hi all,

I'm currently subscribed to Moz Pro, SEMrush, SpyFu, Majestic, and WordTracker, and there seems to be a lot of overlap with this SEO services. I'm thinking of cancelling SpyFu, Majestic, and WordTracker, but wanted to get some thoughts from people more familiar with these services. Am I missing something, or is there a great deal of redundancy with these subscriptions?

When it comes to SEO tools, each of them have their pluses and minuses. We currently subscribe to ALL of the link tools, for example, because every link tool has different link data. We must pull all the data from all those tools, put them into one spreadsheet, and then review the links from there. So, I don't recommend unsubscribing to the link tools, those are necessary if you're watching your links.

When it comes to other tools, like keyword tools, you need to decide how often you use them, and which one(s) you prefer. There are redundancies amongst them, but each tools has a different data source.

Thanks Eric. When you say "link tools," do you mean backlink tools? I have noticed that the services report backlinks differently. That's one of the reasons I've kept some of these subscriptions.

Yes, Majestic, LinkResearchTools, ahrefs.com, moz.com/researchtools/ose/ all pull from different sources. It is not necessary to have the mall but if you want a complete picture of your backlinks you need to run your test on multiple tools. We use the four mentioned above in combination. This is a especially important if you're working on a penalty removal.

Majestic keeps the best, most & oldest backlinks. They're also the best for disavows and bad links as Moz focuses more on the best links you have and Ahrefs focuses on a really big group - but a lot of domain duplication.

So I have Ahrefs & Majestic & Moz (OSE) for link tools but mainly focus on Majestic.

Ahrefs has the best content-related tool (by far at the moment) and Moz has the best single-site tracking (of the 3.)

I love Spyfu but don't use it enough to justify having so I let it go.

Thanks Matt. Appreciate the insight. Funny though: I came here to hopefully shed some subscriptions. Hadn't heard of Ahrefs before though, so it looks like I'll be adding a subscription. Lol.
