      Hi Guy's

We have a website with a total of 133 incoming links. It's a https:// webshop and when i checked our incoming links i noticed that:

      http:// has 23 refferring domains
      https:// has 110 refferring domains

Is it better to ask if the link could be replaced in https:// ? There is a 301 redirect to the seruce website, on all www / non-www and non-https url's

      Thanks!

Asking to replace links to https:// will definitely be beneficial. Some of the link juice will be lost in the 301 redirect, so without the redirect, you will receive the full benefit of the original link. Hope this helps. Links from directories are more difficult to change, some don't even support https:// url links. Otherwise, you should get on fine.

No - according to Google the value of the links is transferred to the https domain:

Check post from John Mueller on Google Plus: https://plus.google.com/+JohnMueller/posts/PY1xCWbeDVC

"#Do I lose "link juice" from the redirects? No, for 301 or 302 redirects from HTTP to HTTPS no pagerank is lost"

            Hi,

In a perfect world, yes, all your links would be pointing to the most accurate version of your URLs possible. But Google has also recently stated that they're indexing HTTPS by default whenever possible. If you've got some that would be easy to update, go for it, but I wouldn't sink too much time into it as I don't believe you'll see too much of an impact from doing so.

Ok. Looks like I am mistaken. To be sure, only build links with your https:// urls in future. Good luck 🙂

That's a literal reproduction of the post from John Mu 😉
