Linking question
-
I have links on a website with similar catergories to my own, at present all the links from that site point to my homepage, would I be better having the links from his catergories pointing to the equivalent categories on my site or leaving it has it is?
Thank you in advance.

...all the links from that site point to my homepage
How many links are there? How are the links added to the pages? As part of content or just something in a footer / sidebar?
What are the links being added for? If it's for traffic, then it makes sense to have links pointing towards the corresponding categories, but just by what you have said there, it doesn't sound like something that would benefit your SEO.
It's a bit awkward to fully assess without seeing the links / knowing more about them.

Thank you for responding, the links appear at the side of each page, it is a text link with our company name, they are mainly for SEO.

Hi John,
These are actually going to do you more harm than good. Google said that links like this should be nofollowed if they must exist. What you have might be considered as violating their guidelines:
The best thing you could do is have the links removed and concentrate instead on creating amazing content that invites more natural links.
