Cleaning up bad backlinks E-commerce
-
Hello,
On one of our main sites, our backlink profile is getting cleaner. However, the mozbar still shows us stronger than where we rank for our main keywords.
My sense is that we are being penalized for backlinks, either now or Google hasn't forgiven us for the past. We cleaned up a bunch of link farms 2-3 months ago.
It looks like the link farms are all cleared up, now there's 2 things that might need attention.
1. A link from one of our other sites to this site (probably should take this off)
2. There's a lot of links from porn sites, but that's common in our industry.
Even if everyone else has porn linking to them in our industry, what should we do (if anything) to clean up all the porn backlinks? Do you think they could be causing problems? There's a lot of these links, and a lot in our industry (non-adult industry)
Thanks,
Bob

Hi Bob,
As I don't know what method you used to find low quality links so first I would like to share a step by step article to find low quality backlinks . If you want you can check it again for low quality links on your website.

I am quoting you "2. There's a lot of links from porn sites, but that's common in our industry."
You have mentioned above that you have e-commerce website. My simple question is what do yo sell on your website that links from porn sites is common ?
Thanks

I can't disclose my niche, I don't have permission, it's a legit product that just happens to have a side fettish following.
I could look at competitors and see if they have a lot of the same problems, but I'm just wondering if these sites are hurting us.

What do you think? Everyone in the industry has the same problem. Should I eliminate dozens of fettish sites backlinks or leave them alone? Or do you think that's not the problem?
