Is there an extra SEO benefit for linking to pages that link to you?
-
Currently working on a link-building strategy and have gotten a few mentions. Just curious if there is any SEO benefits of linking back to the pages my site was mentioned and linked on? Would love to hear your thoughts, thanks!

Hi Derek,
In the research I have done having a do follow link to a site that does the same to you could be conceived by google as a bit of link farming. If its valid content / reason to do so then great and everything in moderation will get you by.
I'd be cautious about doing it more than just a few times in you LBS. Admit I'm no expert though.
Cheers

Thanks Bowey!
In context, it is for a Press Page I am making, linking to all the articles that are linking to us.
I appreciate the response!
Cheers,

David is correct, it can look like link farming. but only if you do it a lot.
but the bigger concern is that you are pouring away link juice. Its like I give you 10 dollars and you giving me 10 dollars, where is the gain? -
Thanks, Alan! That being said, do you think that for our press page this issue can be skirted simply by no following the links? Or do you think it would be wiser to avoid providing links all together to our press breaks and display them in another way?

No, no-follow links still leak link juice, it just doesn't reach the others site., if you no follow. it would be like, I give you 10 dollars, you throw 10 dollars down the drain.
Really you don't want to link away from your site, unless neededHere is an old article I wrote on page rank, old by still relevant. http://thatsit.com.au/seo/tutorials/a-simple-explanation-of-pagerank
