      Hi.

A client had their emails hacked at server level I think and sent out 100,000 emails. When they email me now they go to Spam. So I think they have been flagged somehow?

Is there as way to fix this or a workaround?

      Also will this effect SEO?

      Thanks

        Hello,

Sorry to hear about this situation you are going through. It doesn't sound like an SEO-related issue. Most email platforms provide you with the option of marking the contact as safe and thereby removing them from your "Spam" list.

The only way this might affect your client's SEO efforts is that it might affect their ability to communicate with clients, thereby lowering their user experience or conversion rates. The hard factors probably won't be impacted. Your client might have to make some calls to inform customers of the issue and let them know to look for their emails.

You might also consider having them create a new email in order to remove the spam flag from their account for future contacts.

You could also contact the hosting company their website runs on and explain the issue and see what they can do for you.

        Hope this helps!

        Rob

You might find that either the domain or the IP got blacklisted.  Many mail providers use realtime blacklists and automatically mark as spam anything from matching senders.  This can cause delivery rates to plummet.

MX Toolbox provide a simple checker for this here: http://mxtoolbox.com/blacklists.aspx . You can set up monitoring for it as well.

If you find that the client is on a blacklist you need to visit that particular lists site to find out the rules for removal. Some expire automatically, some you have to contact when issues are resolved.  Be careful though - some charge for removal.  If you are on such a list read up about it first - not all are as above board as they seem.

          Good luck with it.

Hey YNWA 😃 What a nightmare!

Yes like Mat said... use http://mxtoolbox.com/blacklists.aspx to check and monitor your domain. If the emails are going to spam, you are more than likely listed somewhere. You can find where the domain in  question is listed and (once you've corrected the issue) submit to be removed.

NOTE: The sites that require you to pay a fee to be removed are not important and you can disregard them. Only submit to the main ones. Those do not make you pay to play. Good luck!!
