What are the best ways to rank your product pages, We have a few ecommerce sites and we want to increase the position of both our product and catagory pages. I know that gaining more popularity will help to increase the DA but I want my product pages to rank higher.

        Hello John,

There are a lot of ways to do this. I will try to be brief and to the point:

        1. Brand Link Building

Targeting individual products can be time-intensive on e-commerce sites so sometimes it is best to apply link-building procedures to entire brands and sub-link to individual products only when necessary. This won't create the enormous hype for a single product that linking to the individual page would, but it does generally lead to better customer interaction overall.

        1. Product Content Marketing

If you want to specifically target a single product (or a couple), you might consider content marketing. Create unique content on the product and circulate it around authority sites in your market niche. Create hype for it individually. Get links to the product page specifically. This isn't a particularly efficient way of going about marketing a large e-commerce site, but can be useful if the site is only targeting a couple products.

        1. On-Site Factors

You have to ensure that your internal linking structure and your keyword matching are done properly - exact matches aren't necessary, you just want to have the correct keywords shown on the relevant pages.

You are already on the right track - increasing DA will naturally lead to more traffic for your websites, your focus should be on producing quality content, building relevant links and ensuring a positive user experience. This will naturally lead to higher conversions and greater revenue.

If you have further questions feel free to ask.

        All the best,

        Rob

I would add to Rob's suggestions that you need to make sure you have user generated content on these pages. If you do not add reviews to your pages you will have a very difficult time ranking. You will have to make sure that you have something uniquely valuable to offer your customers, something they can't find on any other site, and that is why user generated content is so important on product pages. You can only rewrite a product description so many ways. Chances are, your static content will not provide anything to a customer they can't find elsewhere. With a low DA in a competitive market, UGC is your best friend.

I would also add that it helps to have a video or two on your product pages. Add a video on how the product works or record an in house review of the product. It will really help your rankings and user experience.
