One Location - Multiple Businesses
-
We have a client that has multiple businesses running out of the same address with no difference in suite number - what's the best way to work with this considering NAP?
The owner runs several different service businesses and a few online businesses (all legit) out of the same large office space and we want to try to figure out how to get him listed locally with the obvious NAP issue. We can get new phone numbers, but not sure of the best way to handle the duplicate address issue.
Thoughs?

I would test the mail system and see if it works by sub dividing the suite. Like say the address is 299 East Main St, Suite 301. I would try something like this 299 East Main St, Suite 301-A and see if the mail still makes it. If it does, I would use that to delineate the different businesses.

Agreed, this will often work. We'll usually check with the post office or delivery person directly to make sure there will be no issues.

I'm also successful doing this.

Hey Doug,
Smart fellow you are to realize the importance of NAP in this situation. Your best bet is likely to involve:
-
Getting a different suite number for each local-focused business
-
Getting a different phone number for each local-focused business
-
Having a different website for each of the businesses
-
And, of course, each business should have its own name, Google+ Local categories, etc.
If the client does not want to work with his post office to get those suite numbers, then he could end up with merging, duplicate and ranking issues that will be no fun!
