        Hi Aron,

It's quite usual for your Domain Authority to fluctuate a little with each index. It completely depends on what (and how many) sites get crawled and what changes on the web.

A small drop of a couple of points on its own probably isn't anything to worry about. Keep an eye on the trend though.

What you need to do is compare any changes relative to those of your competitors. If you see your domain authority continue to drop while your competitors rise then you know that maybe you've got a problem. Looking at my Moz Analytics I can see that the domain authority for all of the competitors and my own site have all dropped between 1-3 points.

To increase your domain authority your site needs to earn some links, and good authority links if possible. Look to build "linkable assets" and develop relationships with other sites in your niche and complementary niches.

Spot on Doug!!   The Domain Authority will fluctuate a bit each time the site is index.  To increase domain authority,  you need good quality links pointing to your site. Rand had a great post about building "assets".

Thanks for the great answer. I never had a site drop Domain Authority yet so got worried. I'll keep an eye on the trend and watch my competitors closely.
