PR is one of a couple of hundred factors that are weighted into the Google algorithm. I am not downplaying it at all and you should work on getting quality links but a PR of 0 does not mean a site won't be ranked. I wouldn't pay serious attention to Alexa Rank except to note that Google PR can takes months to update and you may see your progress using other ranking tools like Alexa and SEOMoz Rank (which is far better - my plug).

Thanks a lot for your answer. I remember few years back indeed when Alexa was not that famous, not many people bothered with their rankings, it is just recently that there is alot of talk about them. best regards.
