How do you get more Google +s?

I have had a google plus page and a facebook page for my business for a long time now.  I have not had any issues building a customer base via Facebook either by promoting my page or by using the pay promotions via facebook.  On the other hand, I have had 0 luck of getting +s on my google page.  I feel the page looks good, but just am having a hard time.

Is there an effective way out there to get followers on Google+?

I agree with Dario. Apart from it , you can try the below

1. Get a vanity url to begin with. You can try gplus.to
2. Add G+ badge to your website
3. Share good content - every body wants to read good stuff
4. Use images as much as possible
5. Send out invitations to join the page
6. Promote your G+ page on other social platforms
7. Use your page link in your signature as well

We have also been experimenting with the above and seen some results. Hope this helps
