      We are a B2B company that is looking to convert to one global portal very soon. It is only then that we will be able to address a lot of the IA SEO issues we are currently facing. However, we are looking to make some quick fixes, namely adding a proper title to the different country homepages. Will having the same title, with only the country modifier swapped out be a good tactic? Since we want a unified title across all country sites, it just makes sense that we don't change it for every single country.

      For example:

      • Small Business Solutions for B2B Marketers | Company USA
      • Small Business Solutions for B2B Marketers | Company Italy
      • Small Business Solutions for B2B Marketers | France

        From my experience, it's actually ok, but i try to keep it below 65 characters and as long as it's just a few pages (not more than 50)

        Some people will definitely want different title tags each time but I look at it depending on the website.

          Personally I would be looking at ways to make the title tag more unique to the location. Google is always on the search for spammy pages and if I saw loads of pages with the same (or very similar title tag/content) I would look at moving those pages down the rankings.

          You want your title to have the most relevant keywords fist - in this case the focus would be the country (as this is the most unique part of the title). Hope this helps.

            My suggestion is to localize asap your site also in the languages of the countries you want to target.

            Honestly, even if you craft a perfect title, if it is not in the language of the regional Google:

            1. Google won't present in up in the rankings;

            2. People won't pay that much attention, because a French or Italian first look for results in their languages, and just in extreme need to results in other languages (and if the brand is very well know).

              Thank you for these answers. They provide a lot of insight.

              One comment about the translations though, is that there could be different countries using the same language (English is the obvious example here). While we can identify the pages through the use of different country subdomains, each country would still want to publish content on their own sites.
