      I run various sites that use Geo-location to place related links in navigation menus on a page.  For example, if you land on the home page, we will see that you are in Florida and then in one of the content boxes on the page, show job listings that this site has in Florida.   We also give the option to search for other jobs or use other navigation options.

      The idea is to try to help the user along the best we can, but .....

      What opinions do persons have here on if these links should be nofollowed as GoogleBot will always see links to places in California etc. - wherever Googlebot is crawling from? Would this then be confusing as we are a site that focused on the entire US and not just California etc

      Thanks!

        You can use a nofollow Meta tag to instruct search engines not to follow (i.e., crawl) any outgoing links on the page. If you don't want to transfer any Google juice to it too.

          Thanks - I understand what a no-follow link is and how it works.  This is not a "what" question, but an "if" question.

          I am asking in this specific situation of using it with geolocated links presented to the users/bots.  Not sure that since Googlebot will always see links related to its location if this sends the wrong signals.  i.e. if Googlebot is coming from Mountainview, CA, the page will show links to locations near it on every page of the site.  Gbot might get the impression that we are focused on CA, when in fact we are focused nationwide, or maybe it does not matter and I should not worry about it.

            Googlebot don't come only from Mountain View...

            Said that I would hide those links behind Ajax:

            1. that way you avoid any risk;

            2. that way you don't evaporate Link Equity
