Submitting Separate Disavow Files for Each Subdomain?

This question has to do with using Google's Disavow Links Tool.

For sites having quite a few subdomains, where those subdomains are listed separately in Google's Webmaster Tools, do I have to upload a separate disavow file for each subdomain?

Or, will the file that I upload for the main domain (root domain), also be evaluated by Google for all of the subdomains on that site?

I've searched all over the Internet for an answer to this question, but can't find anything.

No, subdomains are separate sites. They should all be verified independently in WMT and then in the disavow page you'll see options for all the sites in a dropdown list and submit a disavow for each.
