      Hello,

I'm working on a new dance school website. They already have their domain name .ae but the .com is not available.

I was wondering in this case how could it would be to work on a domain like name-dance-school.com instead of name.ae

In thie case .ae is very good as they just work on the uae. But I think that name-dance-school will definitely help them to rank better.

Has anyone ever face this situation ?

      Best regards.

That could just be part of your strategy. Just buy the domain and create another site for it, both of them rank, you win 🙂

Anyway, if it's just local, then that is fine. If you plan to build the brand globally eventually, then it's best to start with a brandname domain. Since it's not available, something that would be short rather than using dashes (-) will be better for recall and trust.

          Hello,

I do not think both website would be a good ideas, as we could not provide content for both. But we'll definitely buy all similar domains.

As my [companyname].com is not available not really sure about the best strategy.

Furthermore I would prefer rather to do not have to change the domain later.

name-danceschool or dancecompany would be a good option u think ?

My experience tells me that using hyphens (-) in domain names doesn't go well with the users. Even a single hyphen in the domain name is quite frustrating. Think as a user - would you like to type a lengthy domain name with multiple hyphens? Users might perceive it as a spammy domain.

It is better to use short domain names that are easy to remember. If you have run out of options and a long name is the only choice then avoid hyphens (-). Moreover, having a domain name same as the business name or kind of work is just one of the factors.

            Regards
