Hi, I have just signed up to Moz so this is my first forum post 🙂

I wanted to track a particular listing page in Amazon, and when I set the campaign up, I got an error message saying the following (example) URL is a folder and not a subdomain:

      http://www.amazon.com/Camelbak-Podium-Chill-Bottle-Carbon/dp/B00437VTJ2

I therefore corrected it to be a folder however when have looked at reports, it would seem that it is picking up a whole lot of different Amazon pages, and shows hundreds of thousands of links, which is not correct.

I tried to find the answer, am hoping someone can tell me how to track just this particular page on Amazon?

      Thanks

      Will

You cannot track single pages like that with Moz.

Thanks, I thought I could as I can in Market Samurai. It shows the links to the domain which is of course Amazon, however also shows links directly to that page. I thought Moz would be able to do the same thing.

Sorry, with Moz all you can do are root domains like site.com or sub domains like blog.site.com. You cannot do folders like site.com/product

Hi Everyone, While it is true that it is difficult to track a single page in Moz, you can track a subfolder. So you should be able to track http://www.amazon.com/Camelbak-Podium-Chill-Bottle-Carbon/dp/B00437VTJ2\. I looked into your account, William, and I don't see a campaign set up for that URL, so I am going to start a test campaign on my account to look into what may be causing the issues with this URL. It may take a sometime for me to get some sample data, so thanks for your patience while I look into this. I'll follow-up here when I have any further information. Chiaryn Help Team Ninja

                Hi Chiaryn,

Thanks for your help. The URL put in that post was an example only. The correct URL which I want to track, which is in my account is http://www.amazon.com/Chalk-Marker-Pack-Fluorescent-Chalkboards/dp/B00CD33ML6

                Thanks

                Will

                  Hey Will,

Thanks for following up. I did see that campaign in your account, but we are only crawling one page of that subfolder because the URL redirects to http://www.amazon.com/Chalk-Fluorescent-Chalkboards-Blackboards-Whiteboards/dp/B00CD33ML6, which adds the words "Blackboards-Whiteboards" into the subfolder and makes it a different subfolder. I am going to set up a test campaign for the actual landing page, http://www.amazon.com/Chalk-Fluorescent-Chalkboards-Blackboards-Whiteboards/dp/B00CD33ML6, and I will see what that comes up with in the campaign.

                  Chiaryn

                    Awesome Chiaryn, thanks heaps 🙂

i might ask one other question. Does Moz report back all backlinks to a site, or only high authority links?

                    Cheers

                    Will

                      Hi Will,

I just reread the original post and it looks like you are talking about link analysis, rather than the campaign crawl. I'm sorry for that confusion. Unfortunately, the link analysis in the campaign is specific to the domain and it can't be tied to specific URL.

The tool Open Site Explorer will give you link analysis information for an individual URL, but we don't have any data for www.amazon.com/Chalk-Fluorescent-Chalkboards-Blackboards-Whiteboards/dp/B00CD33ML6 since we limit the number of pages we crawl on huge sites like Amazon I'm afraid. Also, it is very difficult for us to find links from pages that are deep withing the hierarchy of a site and out index focuses more on a breadth approach so we do focus more on high authority links.

While you can track keywords and crawl errors for the URL www.amazon.com/Chalk-Fluorescent-Chalkboards-Blackboards-Whiteboards/dp/B00CD33ML6, but we just don't have any link data for the individual pages at this time. I'm sorry for the inconvenience this causes.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.

                      Chiaryn

I am shooting off of the hip, were you the one that down voted my answer that pretty much said that?
