If these links are slowly appearing, there are not large numbers of them on every site, you don't have any evidence of being penalized, I'd say not to worry about them.  Remember, your DA is an Moz metric, not a Google metric and your DA may rise and fall (as can your pagerank) without indicating a penalty.

Thank you for the response Chris,

We have noticed a 14% drop in organic search traffic, along with the drop in in DA..so they seem to be closely linked.

My main concern was that we don't have allot of links to our site at all and right now the majority of the links coming to the site are spam.. that one forum site links to us almost 50 times.

Any idea how these kind of links are created ?

There may certainly be a correlation between the two but beware of confusing correlation with causation.  Your stats will tell you exactly what keywords are bringing in less traffic than before and which pages are bringing in less traffic than before and that will be a key to what issues your site has.  Focus on those things that are tangible--DA and PR are slippery slopes if you start trying to correlate your traffic based on them.

If you're concerned about those links, document attempts to communicate with the webmaster regarding their removal and  then use the disavow tool in your webmaster tools to request their disavowal. What you really need to do from here out is work on generating some good content, links and social engagement for your brand.

              Hello,

You have 3 actions you should take at the same time:

              1. Build new high quality links

              2. Reach out to the webmasters of those sites and ask for link remval

              3. Use the disavow tool for the links that are not removed to avoid being hit by a Google penalty.

Actually, those low quality links can trigger a penguin penalty if they abuse the use of 1 unique anchor text or they can even trigger the unnatural link penalty if the number becomes really important and your site gets a manual review by Google riders.

Hope it can help. If you need further assistance, feel free to ask.

              Regards,
