        What are your competitors doing?

Is it really only a difference of color?

Are there that many searches for the different colors?

If the only difference is color, and there isn't that many searches to be had, I'd just create one awesome page.  That way you can go after the category "widget," as well as the individual colors.

I'd strongly recommend to only do 1 solid article. You don't want to have 2 articles, 99.98% duplicate and hurting yourself by having both of those pages within your website. If I as a user just write your article about Red Widget, it will be very very bad experience for me to start reading your Blue widget article and say, what ? You know what I mean. It does not make sense for the user or for the search engine.

You are on the right track. You are thinking about it. So your concern about this is legit. Don't do those "change the name of the color" articles.

          I hope this helps.

I have a very similar situation. This time it's not a complete article it's just a few sentences describing the category. Because we sell one product that comes in many thickness, sizes and colors there is only a limited amount of information I can put on the category pages for thicknesses. For example there would be a landing page for one inch thickness and another 15 different landing pages for different inch thicknesses.

            What do you recommend?

            • Since July 1, we've had a HUGE jump in errors on our weekly crawl. We don't think anything has changed on our website. Has MOZ changed something that would account for a large leap in duplicate content and duplicate title errors?
