From an SEO agency perspective.  What would be the estimated man hours and hard cost to rebrand a large site (1000+pages)?  And all that would go into it, like 301 redirects and etc.?

I have a pretty good idea, of what it would take and how perilous it could be from an SEO perspective. Because of anchor text / 301 redirects / organic potential traffic loss and etc. I just don't know the man hours and hard cost would be.

        Hi Micheal,

What exactly does this rebranding include? A new URL? New keywords? New content? New pages? New design? Time and cost is hard to judge without knowing that.

However, strictly from a 301 redirect perspective, it is normally best to use a 1 to 1 redirect. This means that every old page should 301 redirect to its corresponding page on the new website, instead of redirecting all to the homepage or a basic category landing page. This is time consuming and monotonous, but if there are tons of deep links on your current website, this will help you not losing any traffic, as well as transfer a maximum amount of link juice to your new site.

          Max, thanks for your input.

The url would change as well as the brand name keywords. The content would pretty much stay the same.  The importance of the keywords is they're currently a part of the brand name, that also draws significant search traffic.  I don't believe this to be a good idea, I'm just looking for the time/cost if it did happen.

Agreed on a page for page redirect.  I've seen first hand when that doesn't happen.  Not good.

            Micheal,

You can cut down on your time by closely investigating which pages have links going to them and which pages are bringing in search traffic and focusing your redirects primarily on those pages. If current pages are not linked to or bringing in search traffic, there's not a strong reason to have to redirect those.
