Hi, I'm at a bit of a loss.

For the last few days our web site has been visited by a significant amount of what looks like spam visits. The visits are to a single page, have location as "not set" and all have a bounce rate of 100%. This activity observed on Google Analytics.

I see similar behaviour for an additional approx. half of the "not set" visitors in number from San Francisco i.e. to a single page etc.

I see no unusual activity on the actual web site like spam blog comments for instance, but I'm still concerned.

Any idea what this can be and what I can do about it. The net impact of this is to raise the overall bounce rate of the web site to > 80% when it usually runs around 50%, so these visits are significant in number for us.

      Help appreciated.

      Charles

Try using Cloudflare. They will give you lots of information about your traffic and block any bad traffic. You could test with their free service for a while, there's no need to pay anything. And once you have it figured out, you can go back to normal, or stay with cloudflare, which won't make you any bad.

Did anyone do anything like turn on a monitoring service? Usually they don't trigger javascript, but I did have that happen once. You might look in GA at the network they're using, or see if it's all the exact same version of flash, browser, etc. so it might be one computer doing it all.

Thank you I tried them an the issue seems to have gone away, although they made me pay because they don't support SSL for free.

            Thank you

Oh yeah, forgot about that. But considering you are providing you DDoS protection, CDN, optimization, etc, their fee is still very low for a pro account.
