Our ecommerce site recovered from a manual link spam penalty about a month ago, but the organic traffic is still very low. We are working on getting high quality links and high quality content for our site. Some people are saying that even if you recover from the penalty and build high quality links, etc.. the site will never recover. Is this true?, we are very discouraged by what others are telling us. ?

I d appreciate any help or suggestion we can get here.

      Thank you.

I don't have any experience with manual penalties, only algorithmic. That said in my research I don't remember seeing anything this dire about recovering. If you have resubmitted to Google and used the disavow tool and they have removed the manual penalties then you should be able to salvage that domain. Obviously the other recommendation that so many SEO experts will tell you is to dump the domain, but we all know that simply isn't an option for many marketers out there.

Good luck! Come back and let us know what you find when you find it. I'd be curious to know.

It's not true that you will "never recover," no. I've seen sites go from being manually penalized to being the most heavily organic trafficked site in their respective industries.

You probably lost credit for some links that were helping in the past, and there are possibly still some bad links dragging you down algorithmically. The best solution is just to continue generating awareness and build up your trust with Google. You can absolutely recover completely and reach new heights.
