Linking building to non-home page

You need to diversify you linking strategy. If you look at a macro viewpoint, your homepage is the only one receiving links while the rest of your site is weak. On my sites, I have very diverse linking strategies. I am never affected by Google Updates.

This is a question of relevancy.

The best way to answer this question is by asking yourself whether your homepage will satisfy a search query about ecommerce products. Think about the searcher's intent and your page's content - is it relevant? - and consider your competition. If a searcher isn't going to get the answer they're after from your homepage, find the page that will. Once you've identified a relevant page think about optimising it and create some outreach around it.
