I searched seo marketing into www.google.com.
I came across an instance of a company displaying there star ratings.

Q: Is it acceptable to simply place a couple of lines of code into your static html page? Does this practice violate Google policy?

Hi Mark

Yes, Google will display your rich snippets if they are static or "hard coded". They need to be true numbers as you shouldn't be abusing the ratings but they will in-fact show provided your structured data is correct.
