I know this might be a long shot. I've been working on my google rankings and am first for a few keywords but still seeing quite low traffic.

Is there a tool that allows me to see what keywords my competition is receiving high levels of traffic from?

      Thanks

      Dan

        Hi Dan

I believe that both SEMRush and KeywordSpy would be able to do this for you.  They are both paid services, but KeywordSpy does come with a free trial, so it's worth checking out to see if it can give you the data you're looking for.

        Hope this helps!

Not really. If you're trying to figure out what keywords your competitors are ranking for, there are a few things you can do...

          • View the source code of their pages and see if they have their meta keywords tag filled in. Some sites still put their target keywords in this tag which creates no SEO value. It does however serve up their desired keywords on a silver platter.
          • Use the SEOMoz Open Site Explorer to analyze your competitors domains. Click the anchor text tab which will allow you to group all their links by their anchor text or target keywords. This is a quick and easy way to see what keywords they are trying for by building backlinks.
          • You can use http://www.semrush.com to view ten of the top keywords that a competitor's website ranks for organically, showing the keyword, position in search results, traffic percentage, and other useful information.

          Hope these help!

            Also, SpyFu can be used.

I use Google Trends to look at what keywords (and their trends) that people are looking for. Once you have a kw inventory work backwards and see if competitors are using those or not. If not and it is relevant, there may be a good opportunity to leverage them.

That's the one that slipped my mind. I've heard good things about SpyFu.
