Any ideas on how to achieve this? (Find social sharers)
-
So I've been researching my clients competitors websites using open site explorers "top pages" tab.
In order to discover the types of content that the market is linking to and sharing on social media.
Is there a way to see who shared these popular pages on social media so I can connect with them and eventually reach out to them with our content once we have it in place?
OSE states it is pulling its Twitter share data from a site called Tweetmeme but when I visit this site, it has a message stating that it has been discontinued?
Are there any tools that will allow me to identify sharers or can I do it manually at all?

Adam
Have you tried using http://www.followerwonk.com/ which was recently acquired by SEOMoz ?
It might be useful to find influencers in your niches.

For smaller twitter "brands" you can simply evaluate the users that are following your competitors and perhaps
- You can follow some of those users to create the opportunity to casually converse with them,
- analyize the hashtags that users are utilizing when communicating with your competitiors. I use HootSuite to monitor these hashtags and then contribute to the conversation in a constructive way.
These are simply 2 tactics in an basket of MANY.
For larger Twitter brands, I use the "what have you done for me lately" mantra and just monitor the most recently active conversations for the given competitor.
If you choose to utilize #1 I strongly discourage aggressive in your face tweeting with these folks. I look at these as long term investments in conversation and relationship development.

Adam - use Topsy.com
Search your domain like domain.com and you'll see what's being shared. Click on the timelines to see when things were shared and then on each individual link, open that up and click "influential only" and you'll see your top sharing Twitter users.

I've been using Followerwonk but can't see where I can input a url to search for those people who have shared it. Does it do that and if so where is it in Followerwonk?

Thanks Tim, I'll be sure to implement this too.

Thanks Matt, I do like Topsy and forgot it allowed you to drill down to see sharers. Thanks for that tip.
