How to implement 503 status?

I want to know how to implement 503 status for a website hosted on Windows server? Will this code trigger automatically as per some specific condition or is it done manually?

Hey

I am not really a windows guy but I am sure you can do this in .Net so it can be done at the application level. Also, I am sure you can do this in IIS but you maybe have less flexibility.

Well, we are about to upload the redesigned website and since uploading will take some time, we want 503 status to be served
