I have a real estate web site at www.nhfinehomes.com. The site is build on a Windows Server running ASP.NET with a basic, home grown CMS. In my Google Analytic under Traffic Sources, Search Engine Optimization, Queries I see a list of over 1,000 keyword phrases that my site had ranked for. In an effort to improve these rankings, I am under the assumption that if I create original content for these terms and add it to my site, it could help improve ranks? First question, is this a valid strategy worth pursuing assuming the content is good, I use good internal linking practices and make sure not to 'orphan' these pages?

Second, because my current site technology doesn't really make it easy to add content, I have figured out how to install a WordPress blog at www.nhfinehomes.com/blog (currently not up since the MySQL DB died for some reason) So am I at any disadvantage adding all this content to /blog vs. right on the primary CMS? Obviously the WordPress template is not the same as the main pages so primary nav and footer nav differ. Of course I can cross link between the two but wanted to make sure this was not going to penalize the value of this content.

Third, if there is anyone with Windows/.NET optimization experience at the server and site architecture level and can help me give my site a once over, I would be most appreciative. I'm not the programmer and rely and a friend to help with that and his SEO experience is very limited.

      Thanks in advance.

Link, I would say yes, you are on the right track. Just make sure the content you are building is helping your users. They come to your website/blog looking for that information, and you want them to get in touch with you. It's best if you continue to keep it on top of your head while building the content, rather then completely getting distracted. Don't get me wrong, I am 100% on the SEO Side, but thinking about the user at the same time. There's no point in ranking for a keyword, the visitor coming in and saying, no, this is not what I was looking for.

Just watch and monitor your bounce rate and eventually consider replicating the look and feel of your website within your wordpress theme. It's possible.

        Good Luck.

I would add the importance of not duplicating content -- you don't want blog posts being lifted directly from website text in other words. I've been nailed on this in the past. Second, due to the popularity of WordPress and the unique content generated, it's highly valued by Google Search. IMO, the website's CMS and the WordPress blog are definitely compatible. March on!

Ok, so you are facing something that i faced for a year in my job at a real estate company where they complete website was in ASP.net and they sucked when it comes SEO friendliness.

I looked in to your website and see that your website is quite better than the one i faced. As far as your questions are concern, here are the answers

Question 1: Content is a great strategy but alone strategy is not going to work in the Real Estate industry, you have to build some good links in order to make it rank in search engines from the desired key phrases.

Question 2: WP and blog section is fine... it is pretty much depends upon how you are going to play with it...Wordpress do allow design customization so if you can heir someone to do similar kind of design for blog as it is for the website it will be great as far as the user experience is concern.

Question3: I cannot call myself an expert in this but by looking in to your website initially see some problems with URL and redirections... I think you should use SEOmoz tool to get updates of how your website is performing technically.
