How many characters will Google read in a header space on a page?

We heard that Google will read about 2,000 characters in a page header. We are using DoubleClick and need to insert more than 2,000 characters in each page header. Any insight?! Thanks!

I have NEVER heard anything about that. I would have remembered.

I just copied and pasted everything between from my site and came up with 8000+ characters. I RANK WORLDWIDE!

Strange even I haven't heard anything like that! I have heard that there is certain limit to characters of Titles and metas that Google can show in SERP but not about headers! Headers is actually part of the site copy and google crawls the whole site copy anyway.
