I have one page on my site... but still get duplicate name and content errors.

i have only the index.html page. my domain has a permanent 301 to the root. why am i getting duplicate problems? i only have one page the index .html???

Even with just one page, you can get duplicate content. Consider:

www.example.com
www.example.com/
www.example.com/index.html
example.com
example.com/
example.com/index.html

Might this be the case for you? It's hard to know without seeing your URL.

I've also seen quite a lot of these:

example.com/home.html
example.com/cms/index.html

Could be that your header is linking to the index.html instead of just the root URL.
