We currently do not support the location -- Google Places

Has anyone experienced this error
We currently do not support the location---for a Google Place Business? The place has existed for years and ranked one or two for local. A recent minor name change was submitted dropping some needed words. now place is not listed although Google places dashboard has active listing.

Hi John,
I've only run into it once myself, and that was last year during a period of change when a lot of people got hit with it after editing listings.
From what I've read, it sounds like it's either an error that happened while you were editing (which is fixable) or you've been dropped, potentially for a violation (which you need to get in touch with Google about).
Recently there was a post by one of Google's Community Managers about how to handle it:
Over the past few years Mike Blumenthal has written a few articles about it...
http://blumenthals.com/blog/2010/05/07/googlespeak-we-currently-do-not-support-the-location-penalty/
The third article, on 7/25/2011, has another potential fix. This fix was proposed during the time period where a lot of people were getting hit. It comes with a caveat -- it has been know to cause people to lose reviews.
Hope this helps!

Hi John,
Excellent response from Bede. Definitely read the post by Google's Vanessa Schneider that Bede has linked to. Curious to know if your edit to the listing required re-verification as it is not at all uncommon for this to trigger the 'do not support location' message for about a week. If this is the case, you should see it resolved in a few days, but if it didn't trigger re-verification (via phone or post card) then another issue is involved.
Definitely, follow the links Bede has provided. I would only add that you can't exactly 'get in touch with Google'. You need to go through their automated process of requesting they look at the situation, to wit:
Link to contact form: http://support.google.com/places/bin/static.py?hl=en&ts=1386120&page=ts.csSelect: I have verified > Yes > My listing no longer appears > Fill out the short form, hit Submit, and await an e-mail from a member of our support team (it may take a few days).Hopefully, you will be able to get this resolved soon.Miriam

I tried the adding content approach no luck. I have a google adwords rep helping with the issue..but so far not much luck.
