Google Local

I am new to Google Local and just bagged a project. Can somebody guide me how to go about it.

Is Google Local all about listing the business in Directory and Classified sites with complete address and profile?

Any help will be highly appreciated.

I find it helpful to keep the Google places listing as accurate and up to date (if your company has seasonal specials most important to keep accurate and any hour changes if you are a walkin type company)
