We have a mobile version of our site for English and Japanese visitors. Is there a way to automatically detect whether a visitor is from Japan and direct users to the Japanese mobile site?

There is a geolocation method/API in HTML5, but you won't be allowed to automatically get it, due to privacy issues - read here: http://diveintohtml5.info/geolocation.html. Don't let that put you off though, offering location-specific services is an incentive for people to let their location be revealed.

All the best with your international project 🙂

        • I have a mobile version and a standard version of my website. I'd like to show users some pages on the non-mobile site but keep googlebot mobile out. Is that ok?
