As far as I have read up on the subject Google will know what your doing.

Good reciprication would be something like the following senario:

1. I create Top 10 list of Widget Manufacturers.
2. Some of these Manufacturers see the list and link through to it.

For 2 to work the info on 1 has to be wizz bang.

What you seem to want to do is to circumvent the system, you have to ask yourself why are you trying to do this.

If you think about links as votes for the other sites and ask, are these really freely given votes for the sites in question you won't go far wrong.

I don't think you will be penalized for reaching out to fellow industry webmasters and reciprocating links. Although the reciprocal links may not help you some say that they nullify the link juice. But I hope that it does help you!

When you say three way linking, can you further explain?

Way back in the day, it was said to do a 3 way link like this.
You have site A,B,C

(A) is the site you want to perform well. (B) & (C) will just be helpers
Reciprocal link between sites (A) & (B), (B) & (C), and add just one link to site (A) from site (C)

I don't recommend doing this though! It may get you penalized. O.o

The model that I had in mind was to simply have Group A link to Group B, Group B link to Group C & Group C link to Group A.  I divided the groups evenly by PR so that everyone should get roughly the same amount of juice.

I would make sure any links you put in are very relevant and watch out for the anchor text.  My guess is that Google will probably lower the value of those links but not penalize you, but make sure whatever you are doing is worth the risk of getting penalized.

Here is my question - why are you thinking about doing this instead of building genuine linkable assets and building your brand online? This is SO easy to do for real estate, you just have to think a bit outside the box.

You should be looking to build genuine assets like this that is the kind of thing that Google wants to reward as opposed to trying to game the system, which at best will give you a short yet unsustainable boost, and at worst will penalize you. Why take the chance?
