Using local monthly searches for generating website keywords
-
Hi Guys,Im researching keywords to add to our new website with google key words. At this stage we are not using any paid searches or any PPC and are solely looking to be optimized for organic searches. With this in mind should I focus on populating out site with words that rank high under the column " local monthly searches' and not worry about the words that rank high under CPC and the Competition columns? .

I use the local month searches column and set the match type to 'exact' - I also combine this with google insights to see what the trending of the traffic is like.
If the CPC is high and the competition is also high this does indicate pay per click for the term is competitive and there will be a reason behind that, such as the term converts well, if that is the case then organic could also be competitive but I don't use these columns when selecting keywords for organic, I just go off the local traffic data and make an educated decision on whether I think once ranked will it convert.
