      Hi all!

My question is: if a search query gives 2 regular results, then the Google Places results, then 8 more results on the first page, is it possible for a website to appear in both in the regular listing, and in the Google Places listing at the same time?

In other words: if I do everything well, can my website be the first result, and also be one of the results in the Places listing as well? Or does a website only either apper in the regular listing or in the Places listing?

      Thanks for the answers!

        Hello Digini,

No big secrets here. I really recommend you this video from SEOmoz.

        http://www.seomoz.org/webinars/all-about-google-places

It contains all the secrets to get the results you want to achieve in Google places/SERPS in Google.

        I hope it helps,

        Pedro Pereira

          Thanks Pedro!

I was there at the webinar so I am familiar with this video. But I don't remember it answering my only question: can a website show up in the Places listing and in the regular SERP at the same time or not 🙂

            Hi,

Yes you can appear twice in the SERPs.  Check out this query:

            https://www.google.com/search?q=exterminator+brooklyn&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a

Brooklyn-Exterminator.net appears at the top and bottom of the rankings.  That's a nice double hit.  A lot of the stuff you do to optimize your places listing can also help your regular SEO efforts.  A lot of local directories that give you citations will also give you links, so they can definitely go hand in hand.

            Hope that helps,

            Vinnie
