How to avoid content duplication of my websites
-
Hello,
We are having 4 domains abc.com, abc.in, abc.co.uk, abc.com.au with same content and same inner pages (abc.com/page1, abc.in/page1 etc.) targeting on different geographical areas.
How can we avoid duplicate content issue in the home page as well as in the inner pages. Abc.com is the major site.
Thank you.

Hi semvibe,
I don't want to state the obvious, but if you are targeting different countries, shouldn't you be creating unique content for each site?
If the content is exactly the same, then this duplicate content won't bring you any benefit from a search perspective. You should use the rel= canonical tag on your duplicate pages to notify the search engines about your .com.
Hope that helps.
Cheers,
Andrew

You will not have a duplicate content problem if the sites all target different countries. For each site, set your country target in GWMT. With sites targeting different countries but using same language you need to insure correct language meta tags (EN-US for US, EN-GB for UK. etc)
