How to increase conversion for Amazon?

So I would like to know what kind of results I really should be seeing with a site that is not even a month old, but like I said it does and has ranked on the first page for that whole time.

You are on the first page of google in a month?  Nice work!

You made a sale in the first month?  Nice work!

Questions:

Those monthly searches.... are they "exact match" for your specific keyword or broad match?  If broad match then 3600/month is nothing.

You say you are on the first page of google... if you are at position #6 or lower you will get very very few visitors from your 3600 monthly searches.  You still have work to rank higher.

How many visitors did you get in the last month?  If less than a few hundred then one sale is probably great conversion rate for an Amazon stuffed animal product - especially after Christmas.

Are you using Adsense?  It often produces a LOT better than Amazon.

If you share your URL here you might get competitors because everybody is looking for SERPs where they can get on the first page of Google in a month for 3600 searches.   But if you don't share your URL you will not get actionable advice.  If it was me I would not share the URL but hire someone to consult in private.

@EGOL thank you so much! Your advice was better than anything I could have received with a paid consultation.  Really!

This information is exactly what I was looking for:

1. My site was #8 but I made some recent changes that dropped it to #9 but I think it will bounce back hopefully higher! So now I know that my conversion is okay, I just need to keep moving up.

2. Yes, that 3600 is for exact match not broad. For the month I would say I will end up with about 300 unique visits. So, about 10% which will probably also increase as my site reaches a higher ranking.

3. Adsense! Honestly, my acct. was banned shortly after I started it. I had a site that was on the first page (random dumb luck) without even any content. I threw up some relevant content and opened my adsense acct. and got my first clicks. Told my spouse and out of a goodhearted intent to help, clicked up my adds without me knowing. POOF! About 3 days later, my first dollars were gone!

Word of advice to all, don't tell those you love or friends about your sites specifically because it really can go wrong quick BUT it was a blessing in disguise because it taught me so much and improved my sites. I had to really search and figure out my alternatives.

4. Now I know my results are normal and not to take it to heart to much when I see big shots exclaiming they have gone from $0 to over a $1000 in a few months without even working that much. BS!!!!  Maybe, just maybe with Adsense but Amazon seems to be a whole different animal.

People get impulsive and will click on an ad but getting them to buy is alot harder but worth it I think.

So my goal will be to get up higher than #8 and #9 as well as increasing the time ppl spend on the site.

Ok... you are getting 300 visits per month.  Does not surprise me that you have made one sale.  Of course, different presentations or amazon ads in different positions could have earned more or fewer says.  Amazon ads do not do well on most of my sites.

I never use the actual amazon banner ads because they are so bad, I try my best to make it look like a blog and only put images and links with relevant products. I had a buy it now on one product but it didn't seem to work at all.

I think I just really need to get up higher and of course I wasn't expecting much with a cheap stuffed animal BUT hopefully I can repeat this success with a higher priced product in a different niche, rank in the top and make a few bucks.

I still get a little sad about my adsense but I have heard some really good stuff about Amazon from some seemingly reliable sources. Can't cry over spilled milk though

Thanks again and I will post an update if I get up in the top and start seeing some more dough! It's gonna be hard work because most of the other sites are either big chains or pretty decent.

All except one which recently came out of nowhere to rank #3. STRANGE THING is that it just has an error page that says Index of with a link to ftp.quota????

I checked it out with open site explorer it has some crazy Page Rank or Authority whatever of 80. I checked some of the backlinks and they were very odd with Arabic writing on them.  Not sure what that site is about or where it came from about a week ago but I couldn't imagine it staying around long and hopefully it will go away and improve my rankings!
