Here are some of the important questions....

Are the blog posts quality content?

Is it getting any traffic?

Does it have any links?

Are people posting about it to Facebook, Twitter, etc.?

Does traffic entering the blog convert?

If answers to the above are YES... then these guys need a kick in the pants.

If possible, I would create a url map that points ranking pages to matching content on the new site. For all other pages, I would send the reader to page that talks about the name change of the company.
